TWO kids were allegedly not reported missing for three months by their mom and her new husband, both of whose ex partners have recently died.
A search is underway for adopted seven-year-old Joshua Vallow, who has special needs, and Tylee Ryan, 17, who are feared to be in “serious danger”.
Cops in Idaho want to speak to their mom, Lori Vallow, and her new husband Chad Daybell as police say they have repeatedly lied about the children’s whereabouts.
Little Joshua, who has special needs, and Tylee have not been seen since September.
On October 19, Daybell’s first wife, Tammy, 49, was found dead at her home in Fremont County.
Officials initially believed she had died from natural causes, but subsequent investigation by the sheriff’s office found her death may have been “suspicious”.
Her remains were later exhumed and an autopsy was conducted.
A few weeks after Tammy's death, her husband married Lori Vallow – the mom of the two missing kids.
Vallow is also a recent widow.
On July 11, her brother Alex Cox shot and killed her husband, Charles Vallow.
Cox claimed he shot his brother-in-law in self defense.
The case was under investigation, but months later, Alex Cox also died.
It’s not clear what the connection is between the two cases and the missing kids.
During the investigation into the death of Daybell’s first wife, investigators learned his new wife’s kids were both missing.
Police attempted to conduct a welfare check on Joshua at the family home in Rexburg on November 26 after family members voiced concerns that they had not seen him since September.
Joshua's mom, Vallow, and her new husband, Daybell, told police Joshua was staying with a family friend in Arizona.
Investigators later learned that Joshua was not staying with the friend.
The next day, police executed search warrants and discovered Vallow and Daybell had "abruptly vacated their home and left Rexburg."
The department has since enlisted the FBI to help find Joshua.
Police said the couple did not appear to have the boy with them when they left.
Investigators found Joshua – who also goes by the nickname JJ – had last attended school at Kennedy Elementary in Rexburg on September 23.
Vallow’s 17-year-old daughter, Tylee Ryan, who was living with her mom in Rexburg has also not been seen since September.
"We've received numerous false statements from them advising that the children were with family members of friends," said Assistant Chief Gary Hagen of the Rexburg Police Department.
"We're deeply concerned about the children and their safety… We would even be good with a FaceTime video of the children to make us feel better that they are safe."
Anyone who has seen either child since September is asked to call 208-359-3000 or 1-800-THE-LOST (843-5678).
